The Faculty of Science at the University of Bern, Switzerland, invites applications for an Assistant Professor (non-tenure track) in Plant Sciences

We are looking for candidates addressing ecological research questions at the levels of populations or communities and contributing to the coherence of the Institute of Plant Sciences (IPS), e.g. by strengthening the interface of ecology with molecular biology. The candidate’s profile should complement current strengths and methods of the IPS. This may involve experimental, molecular, comparative, computational, modeling or other approaches. The successful candidate is expected to establish an independent research group, to actively interact with the other IPS research groups and to acquire extramural funding. The candidate will be encouraged to contribute to teaching.

We expect a PhD and at least 2 years of Post Doc experience, an excellent scientific track record and proven potential for research independence. The institute particularly welcomes applications by candidates holding career fellowships (such as ERC StG, or SNSF Professorship). Moreover, female scientists are specifically encouraged to apply.

The IPS provides general and research facilities and support funding for research staff. The position will be open from 1 August 2017 and is limited to four years, with the possibility of a two-year extension.
