A postdoctoral position is available in the research group of Corinne Robert (INRA, Ecosys unit, Grignon, France) in collaboration with David Claessen (CERES and IBENS, Ecole Normale Supérieure, Paris, France).

Project description

The postdoc will work in the context of a wider project funded by the ANR (the French National Research Agency) called BREEDWHEAT, « Breeding for economically and environmentally sustainable wheat varieties: an integrated approach from genomics to selection ». The aim of the postdoc is to develop and apply a model of wheat foliar disease responding to architecture and nitrogen, simulating the interactions between crop growth and disease development. The postdoc will develop an existing model, based on the framework of physiologically structured population models, that mimics within and between season canopy growth and pathogen dynamics. Specifically, the aim is to develop the wheat-Zymoseptoria tritici model and to analyze the effect of nitrogen fertilization on disease dynamics.

* PhD in (theoretical) ecology, agronomy, epidemiology, or similar background;
* Strong modeling skills (ODEs, structured population models, epidemic models)
* Programming skills: the project will use principally C and Matlab;
* Fluent in English;
* Good scientific writing skills;
* Ability to work in a multidisciplinary research team;
