CONTEXT
AMURE was established in January 2008 as a joint research unit, associating the Maritime Economics Department of the French Research Institute for Exploitation of the Sea (http://wwz.ifremer.fr/institut), and the Centre for the Law and Economics of the Sea of the University of Western Brittany, Brest, France (www.univ-brest.fr). It is a joined laboratory with CNRS (Centre national de la recherche scientifique), since 2016.
Bringing together a group of more than 70 researchers, engineers, post-doctoral researchers and doctoral students in economics and law, AMURE is one of the main French and European research and research training centres on marine policy issues related with sustainable development of maritime and coastal activities and areas. The group’s activity is conducted in an inter-disciplinary perspective in marine sciences, within the IUEM (Institut Universitaire Européen de la Mer), recognised as a “Graduate School” thanks to its “Interdisciplinary School for the blue planet” (ISblue).
The engineer will be employed for the UNU-OCEAN project leaded by an AMURE member. Its aim is to test and experiment the creation of an institute of the United Nations University devoted to ocean and coasts in Brest, France. More information at: www.projetunuocean.org/en

MISSION
Three main missions will be devoted to the engineer:
* drafting policy briefs based on scientific documents in English (mainly) and in French for policy-makers;
* a « science and policy for the ocean in the South Atlantic » prospective analysis study relying on existing international collaborations (in particular international laboratories);
* the setting up of a large-scale international research project based on the network of UNU institutes and other international agencies.

The engineer may contribute to other aspects of the UNU-OCEAN project, in particular the international promotion of international training sessions.

REQUIRED SKILLS
* Background in marine sciences (natural sciences or human sciences).
* Experience in setting up and monitoring international projects is desired.
* Excellent writing skills in English (and French preferably)
* International experience
* Sense of organization
* Teamwork capacity
* Autonomy
* An experience in international institutional communication would be appreciated.
* Required minimum level of education: Licence degree / Desired minimum level: Master degree

WORKING CONDITIONS
The engineer will be hired by the University of Western Brittany (UBO), Brest.
The salary will be fixed according to the UBO references for an “ingénieur d’études” with the possibility of asserting experience in a similar job (indicative minimum salary: 2000 € gross or about 1600 € net).
The duration of the contract is 12 months (renewable).
The desired start of the contract is March 1st, 2018.
Travel expenses are covered.
The recruited engineer will have an office in the UMR AMURE, on the IUEM site in Plouzané, France.
